Kitchen Turntable Organizer

Updated on September 6, 2014

For the Kitchen and All Through the House

I remember it was 1972 when I used my first Lazy Susan turntable, though apparently they have been around for centuries. Their rotating bases make them a convenient piece of tableware when placed in the center of a dinner table allowing everyone easy access to entrees or condiments. Nowadays these basic turntables have also become essential contributors to the organization of households all over the country.

These versatile organizers can be used in every room of the house and even in the garage to help keep our lives running a little smoother. Here at home, our kitchen is very small so I really appreciate the space these turntables save me daily.

The style in use in our kitchen now is white, they measure 12" in diameter and they have a convenient non-skid surface. One turntable fits perfectly in a lower cabinet near the stove to organize our cooking oils and salad vinegars. I added another one to a shelf in the refrigerator to manage the condiments. (It's so much nicer than reaching behind and rearranging contents every time we needed the mayo and it frees up much needed space in the refrigerator door.)

These handy organizers are available in different sizes and finishes. You can purchase them in eco-friendly Bamboo, various hardwoods, plastic, and stainless steel.

After sampling the stock on Amazon, you'll find readily available Lazy Susan turntables measuring 9 inch in diameter, 10 inch, 12 inch, 14 inch, 16 inch, 19 inch, 21 inch and 22 inch. The smaller sizes also can be bought in two tiers. If you prefer, the do it yourselfers can buy the actual turntable bearings to make their own custom piece of tableware.

What else do you need to know about a Lazy Susan turntable besides the fact they save you valuable space and time?

You'll need measurements. Make sure to measure the intended space before making a purchase. Then all you have to do is enjoy the convenience and the knowledge you're making your daily life just a little bit easier. :)
